Hora do Visco Mistletoe Time

"Mistletoe Time" is the eleventh episode of the first season of Jack & Jackie. It's the eleventh episode overall.

Synopsis

Plot

Base #89, East Thermopolis, late afternoon and Christmas eve. Jack and who's involved at the band scenario are filming and testing formations, rehearsing Christmas songs, completely oblivious from the outside world. A lieutenant breaks the door of the rehearsal room, questioning why they're there - they didn't had permission to be there, never had -, and explains, in a rude way, that they're about to miss the buses that would take them back to their homes, since everyone was released a few days early. It's a big frenzy while everyone gather their instruments and, in the Fire Wings' case, also their baggage, but no luck: the buses leave without them.

Blackbird suggests they spend Christmas together, if they want to, since they live nearby. Max points that Jack had another idea: to come back walking to Poulon. But on the cold? With snow?! In the end, that's what the Fire Wings do. In good and constant speed, they ride the many miles that separate one town from the other. Ted eventually stays a little behind, making calls, harvesting branches of a certain little plant on the road and checking where they'll spend the holidays.

Near their destination, they notice that it should have stopped snowing by now. A "Christmas miracle": Poulon, a beach city, receives snow for the first time, look at that! And that's not all: Jack also remembers he is, at last, near Jackie, and can surprise her. That's what he does, leaving his belongings with the others and going to The Swinging Malt Shop.

The two finally meet and can spend some time together. They start enjoying a typical holiday song, thanks to an indirect tip from Henry. On their way to the Ladybirds' house, Jack decides in his heart: he wants to ask Jackie to be his girlfriend. While he thinks about it, they arrive, and everyone from both groups are already there. They also sing a Christmas hit, a cappella, surrounded by the little plant Ted was harvesting: mistletoes, the famous branch under which two beloved individuals kiss. The boyfriend/girlfriend proposal is yet to come, but Jack and Jackie's Christmas gift is already guaranteed. <3

• Henry asks Jack to remember the number "42". This is THE nod to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything. Yes, Henry is such a nerd (and we love it).


• When Jack and Jackie reunite at the restaurant, they complete each other's sentences, a sign of true love. This is a certain nod to the movie Kronk's New Groove (2005).


• The Vocal Point and Noteworthy's version of All I Want For Christmas Is You was discovered by the author before she knew about Mariah Carey's version and its popularity, just for the record.
